Frequently asked questions

What is the Superseal TIZIP® watertight zipper used for?
  • Wetsuits
  • Water sports clothing
  • Curtains and covers
  • Protective, leisure, safety, and industrial clothing (gas and chemical agents)
  • Containers for electronic instruments, documents, machinery and transport equipment
  • Inflatable objects and games, advertising balloons, etc.
  • Bags and backpacks for everyday use, for outdoor, cycling, sailing, mountaineering and the like
How much pressure can the Superseal TIZIP® withstand?
The zipper withstands (laboratory test) up to 700 mbar of pressure (air), ends included. The slider snaps tightly into the latch seat. Avoid excessive flexing of the zipper!
Does the Superseal zipper need lubrication?
No zipper is lubricated beforehand. However, lubrication is essential to maintain the ease of use and perfect fit of the chain. After installing the zipper to the product, it is recommended that the entire chain be lubricated and the slider run from end to end, at least 5 times in both directions. “Acid free” lubricants, greases and oils can be used. Initial lubrication on the entire chain is essential. If the spiral appears dry, the user should lubricate the zipper periodically (approximately every 10 uses). It is recommended that the user consult the instructions and use the lubricant supplied with each zipper. Lubrication of the outer surfaces, allows for better handling of the slider.
Is the Superseal TIZIP® resistant to dust and sand?
The zipper is highly resistant to damage caused by dust or sand; however, in the presence of dust or sand, it is suggested that the zipper be cleaned with liquid soap and water or other mild detergents. Dust grains, which are present in the spiral profile, may affect the watertight seal. If the zipper is used to protect sensitive materials, frequent cleaning of the zipper and thorough inspection before each use is essential.
Is the Superseal zipper hard to open and close?
To ensure watertightness, the zipper in moving the slider requires slightly more force than that used for standard plastic zippers. In case the profile surface is lubricated or wet, the slider will be more manageable.
How strong and durable is the Superseal TIZIP®?
The performance of the zipper in terms of strength and durability is of a high standard. It withstands sudden weight loads, abrasion and withstands short bending and twisting. Closed the zipper resists transverse pulls of 300 N/cm. In case of accidental opening due to excessive tension, return the slider to its initial position, reduce the tension on the spiral, and close the zipper again. The zipper is not damaged by this procedure. If accidental opening of the zipper occurs up to the lower end, the first 2 centimeters of spiral will have to be assembled by hand, before returning the slider to its initial position.
